How to neutralize someone's bad behavior

Gratitude. Gratitude can help you unhook from other people's jerkiness. (Yes, including that of the person you're thinking of right now.)

Staying grateful takes discipline, and none of us are perfect at it.

But when you shift your energy to what's working – the people and pastimes that bring laughter and joy – suddenly you see other people's bad behavior for what it is: their stuff. You hold more power, and they hold less.

Invest more in what's working and less in what isn't. If necessary, give yourself permission to acknowledge which is which. You've got too much going for you to have it any other way.

"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any." – Alice Walker
